It all sounds wonderful but could you please just explain how my email was chosen for thislottery even though I have never played the game???? I would truly appreciate this. Thanks for your time.

> About the Euro Millions Lottery
> ===================
>
> What is the Euro Millions E-mail Lottery?
>
> Euro Millions is an Internet based lottery which involves the use of email addresses as entrants. Each email address is attached to virtual "iTicket digits" which is then used in the drawings. The first edition was held in 2000 with 12 winners in all. This has crystallized into a standard for the lottery.
>
>
> Where do the email addresses come from?
>
> The email addresses, totaling 1,000,000 (one million) in all are obtained from various sources on the internet (search engines, web crawlers etc). However, a majority of the addresses are obtained from our affiliate companies situated in the various continents of the world.
>
>
> How are the drawings made?
>
> The drawings are made using a dedicated network of computers designed solely for this purpose. These computers assign virtual "iTicket digits" to each email address in its database and then perform a perfectly random selection using Bayesian algorithms designed particularly for this function. For the sake of transparency, the process is carried out in the presence of a panel of 16 people nominated by our affiliates.
>
>
> Where does the money come from?
>
> The money used as cash prizes in the lottery is obtained from a special trust fund dedicated solely for this purpose. Our affiliate companies and organisations are mandated to contribute specific amounts to this fund on a yearly basis. Unclaimed and No-win rollover bonuses from the offline editions are also contributed to this fund on a yearly cycle. The growing number of affiliates has enabled the prizes to be increased approximately 100% since the first edition of the lottery.
>
>
> Where are the drawings made?
>
> The computer drawings are held in a location selected by ballot from a list of the countries that house the head offices of our affiliates.
>
>
> How are winners notified of their win?
>
> Winners are notified through an anonymous e-mail message using a public e-mail address.
>
>
> How long does it take for winners to get their prizes transferred to them?
>
> This really depends on the speed with which the winners act, but generally it takes an average of twor weeks.
>
>
> How long has the lottery been in existence?
>
> The first edition of the Euro Millions Email Lottery was held in January 2000.

Posted by: John Pierce at December 27, 2005 02:03 AMI recently received a very similar letter from the Spanish-International Lotto. I did not yet respond because it sounded a little fishy, stating:
"Due to mix-up of certain numbers and names, you are required to keep your winning information confidential until your claim has been duly processed and your winning prize confirmed to you in your choice payment mode. This is part of our security protocols to avoid abuse of the program by some participants."
The part about the mix-up with numbers just didn't sit well with me, so wanted to find more information before I sent my reply. I was very glad when I ran across this post!
Thank You : )
