China's third case and second fatality

Sometimes it's a shock to open up NewsNow in the morning, eight hours behind Greenwich Mean Time, and find some disaster splashed all over the Web. Today it's the news that China has confirmed a third human case of H5N1—and its second fatality.

he Xinhua news agency, quoting the Health Ministry, said a 35-year-old woman farmer in Anhui province had developed fever and pneumonia-like symptoms on November 11 after contact with sick and dead poultry. She died on November 22.

Xinhua said tests by China's Center for Disease Control and Prevention had proved positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of avian influenza.
