Hanoi food prices surge in wake of poultry losses

The Viet Nam News Agency reports food prices surge in Hanoi because of bird flu. The city normally consumes over 50 tons a day of poultry meat. Now no one touches it, so prices for pork and beef have risen and the price of rabbit meat has doubled. The pinch will no doubt worsen as the lunar new year approaches, when Asian families traditionally spend a lot on special meals.
